I attended State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta, where I earned a bachelor's degree in childhood education with a Spanish concentration, and a Master of Science in Special Education. SUNY at Oneonta is highly regarded as a prime education college. I am certified by New York State in both areas.My tutoring experience includes tutoring peers in college, and designing and implementing academic interventions in basic math, literacy, and student behavior. I have taught students from kindergarten through eighth grade in the classroom setting. As a substitute teacher, I now work with students from kindergarten through twelfth grade.My teaching and tutoring methods engage students and ensure their success, and are developed out of evidence practices. I utilize clear, concise strategies and rules, carefully faded scaffolds, and practice time focusing on the skills of proficiency and fluency. Practice games are also used to help make learning be fun and engaging. It is my responsibility as the teacher or tutor to meet my student's needs. Meeting my student's needs may involve reteaching skills that are needed, or building supportive relationships that allow safe, academic risk-taking. All students are able to learn when their needs are met.In addition to teaching, cooking healthy food, yoga, reading, swimming, running, and watching movies with loved ones are all activities that I love.
